Fury as 12-year-old'model"fronts World fashion show
A 12-year-old has caused a media frenzy after she was chosen to front one of the world's largest fashion shows.
Blonde-haired, blue-eyed Maddison Gabriel was picked as the official ambassador of Gold Coast Fashion Week in Australia and has also worn a number of revealing outfits for the Queensland event.

He said: "Catapulting girls as young as 12 into something like that is outrageous."
Mr Howard wants Australia to follow the example of Europe and ban models younger than 16 appearing on catwalks.
"There should be age limits, I mean there has to be, we do have to preserve some notion of innocence in our society," he said.
But the 5ft 7ins youngster, who turned 13 yesterday, believed she deserved to win the modelling competition to become the 'face' of the show.
"I believe that I can fit into women's clothes. I can model women's clothes, so I should be able to do it," she said.
"It doesn't matter about age, it matters that you can do the job. Modelling is all I've wanted to do since I was six - I don't think I'm too young."
Maddison has signed an exclusive media deal and contracted an experienced celebrity agent since the furore broke.
Her mother Michelle Gabriel has defended her child's right to model and demanded an apology from the Prime Minister.
"I believe the Prime Minister is getting very doddery," she said.
"He does not know exactly what 13 and 14-year-old girls are like. I used to vote for him. We're trying to get our teenage daughters to act older. I am so happy that I've got a daughter who has got a good head on her shoulders."
And Fashion Week spokesman Kelly Wieler said Maddison was not too young.
"Maddy got in because she was the best contestant - the judges saw that she was fit to do the job."
She added that the schoolgirl would not be modelling swimwear or lingerie.

The country's Prime Minister John Howard strongly criticised the decision saying it was unacceptable. He said: "Catapulting girls as young as 12 into something like that is outrageous."

Last Nights Episode Of “The Fashion Show” Had Nothing To Do With Fashion
“The Fashion Show” is supposedly about “real fashion, for real women.” I never bought the whole “real women” shtick and remained even more unconvinced after last week’s episode when all the contestants balked at the challenge of designing an outfit for a woman who weighed in at over a whopping two lbs. Whatevs, I don’t really care if the show is about “real people.” Reality TV is nothing about real people anyway. I want fabulous and disastrous fashion (in equal doses, please), snarky judges and crazy contestants. I don’t think I am asking for much, especially considering the fact that this is “The Fashion Show.” And yet, last night’s episode was oddly devoid of fashion. Sure there was fabric, but fabric clearly took a backseat to contrived drama and Kelly Rowland’s rant.
I knew I was in trouble the second Rico couldn’t remember Sarah Palin’s name. When Bravo starts pulling up irrelevant soundbites like that, it usually foreshadows a show lacking in content and trying to make up for it with outrageous statements. The mini challenge of designing a graphic-tee based on a high school clique was cute enough. Some of the clique categories were a bit dopey, like “b-girl” and “mean girl,” but I get that the producers needed enough cliques for the number of contestants and had to make up a few to even out the numbers. Plus, I am still cackling to myself that “mean girl” is a clique. Tina Fey should be proud. Anyway, the main challenge was actually intriguing: making an outfit inspired by the look for a girl in her 20’s. At this very moment hope swelled in my heart—I was actually curious how the designers would take a trend a 16-year-old would wear and use that as inspiration for a more sophisticated version for a girl in her twenty-somethings.
The catwalk was not a disappointment. Most of the looks really were creative takes on cliched styles. As I am not a skater, I probably won’t be wearing Haven’s sophisticated skater look, but if I saw a girl walking down the street in it, I would think she looked pretty badass. Even though I mocked Merlin’s “mean girl” category, he actually pulled out an outfit a bit too pink for my personal taste, but is definitely something I could see Regina George wearing when she goes back to being a bitch in college in “Mean Girls 2.” Good thing I was not in the studio or I would have tackled Rico’s model and run off with the white strapless dress with the plaid vest. Overall there were few flops. With almost every look I was like “that’s so clever, I hadn’t thought of that style in that way before.” Of course there were some busts. Johnny R’s fringe leggings…yeah, I am speechless too. They were fugly as well as completely unrelated to jock fashion. I didn’t get Angel’s b-girl look, but I guess that is why she was voted off the fashion island.
For all the fashion chat I bet you thought the show actually talked about the fantastic runway show. Nope. The last half of the show was devoted to Kelly’s temper tantrum and and sewing room drama. The judges ripped into Angel for not knowing b-girl style. Yes, Angel’s outfit was dopey and uninspired, and her defense that she was unfamiliar with hip-hop culture because she was from Indiana was lame.
But this is why “The Fashion Show” is such a poor substitute for “Project Runway.” Instead of talking about all the great designs, the judging basically consisted of Kelly proclaiming her “great respect” for hip-hop and how insulted she was that it was portrayed in such an insulting manner. Kelly, who do you think you are fooling? Did you think that by saying you revere hip-hop (a genre your own music barely fits into), people will think of you as a fashion expert rather than as a singer posing as a fashion expert? I am not buying that. She ranted and raved (much as I am doing now) about the great disrespect shown to the hip-hop community, but come on, the outfit wasn’t nearly good enough to make any kind of statement, let alone an offensive one.

What’s Fashion About?”
"What’s Fashion About?” is the title of the 77th Pitti Uomo [Pitti for Men] Fashion Show which is taking place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence until 15th January. This is the event that opens the international fashion fair season every year and exhibitors from all segments of the fashion industry participate, including textile manufacturers, garment makers, textile machinery and technology manufacturers, embroidery companies, makers of trimmings and accessories and even laundries. In all 730 exhibitors and 905 brands are participating.
The organisers say that, because of the recession, all fashion houses have been rethinking their strategies and Pitti have reflected this by breaking with tradition in the design of this year’s exhibition space. Spanish designer and architect Patricia Urquiola has revolutionised the design of the main pavilion and, on the lower floor, she has created a “fashion district”. Here the exhibitors’ stands are smaller than in previous years so that there is more space between them to encourage people to stop and talk. “Give up a little of your space so that there is room for all” is the message.
Exhibitors hope that the autumn-winter 2010 – 11 collections will mark a turning point for the industry as it comes out of recession but everything depends on the army of international buyers – 22,000 of them attended the last winter fair - who can make or break a brand. The upturn in the industry’s fortunes is expected to begin with the export market which decreased by 19.6% last year. The fashion companies particularly hope to be able to export their goods to the USA.
Yesterday Lars Nilsson showed elegant outdoor wear for men along with brightly patterned scarves. The waistcoat is definitely back in his suits and evening jackets featured a Bogey cut. Japanese designer Jun Takashaki showed in Italy for the first time in the setting of the Boboli Gardens in the evening. Corleani are showing at the Pitti for the first time. Pitti_W Woman Precollections are showing simultaneously at the Dogana. These are collection previews taking place in an exhibition space designed by Oliviero Baldini.
Men’s Fashion Tips
Every man should have asked himself about matching his socks with his trousers and other assorted questions at some point in his life. But don’t need to have those questions unanswer. However men do like to have their dress and costume styles to hold the promise of something new and of course make something exciting and hopefully. So to add up to the idea of making the men look good in his style and look here are some six important tips listed on men’s fashion that are the rules to live by. And this may be able at least clear up some confusion about a few things.
The following are some of the fashion tips that would surely help you look great. First on the line comes the way you match your belt with your shoes. This is of course a good rule to follow. It’s always preeminent to stick on with the traditional colors such as a dark brown or a rich tan or the handsome black. If jeans, are your attire then try with a belt made of fabric or something equally casual but sure not belts with jeans and sneakers and do not combine belt with suspenders.
Second tip to add up your handsome look is to match your ties and shirts. Mix things a little and experiment with colors. Do not have same color or slightly off ties with solid colored shirts. Keep your ties tasteful, which make you more expressive. Have with diagonal stripes, modern polka-dots, plaids and delicate patterns. Always never forget to make sure that your tie compliments your suit, shirt, sweater or what ever you wear it with. Knots are something that needs to be talked upon when taking fashion in respect. You may select Windsor or the four-in-hand. Whatever you may select just look for a little kicks.
The pleats and the Flat-front are the two ways you have for your pants. Select that most suit you. This third tip on fashion considering these two in concern, may give the flat-front trousers look better than pleated pants more often than not. Pleats help you look more slender. Most say that guys wear pleats because it’s more comfy and the reason to omit the flat-fronts as they are more for athletic bodies. To say on fashion, flat-font trousers are much more fashionable.
Fourthly, the socks- the official rule on socks is that they should match you pant’s color, unless or otherwise if you are wearing black. Even with patterns like stripes in various colors can also be chosen, but that also needs to be matched with pants and shoes. Always stated, most often that, the white socks is to be used only for gym.
Next in the list are the watches- watches are the most imperative accessory that adds the look to what a man wears. Always check your watch does suit your lifestyle and taste. But, if you feel that you are able to get more than one, then that’s great. Else, invest in the most appropriate watch that does match your most of the outfit.
Finally your eye glasses are to be watched for when you really want to express yourself. Have a few pair of glasses that are in different styles. Make sure that it will suit and enhance your overall look. Be sure that your glasses compliments your face shape and help express your personality.
